Provincial Superiors
Provincial Superiors are major superiors, appointed by Superior General in consultation with her council, as the heads of provinces. Superior General consults the members of the province regarding their choice of persons. The term of a Provincial Superior is for six years and is not reappointed for a second term.
Sr. Gemma Marutholil was the first Provincial Superior of Delhi Province. With her experience as the first Provincial Superior of Kolkata Province, Sr. Gemma was well prepared to head the fledgling Province. She steered the province ably and worked towards its expansion.
During Sr. Gemma’s tenure, sisters ventured into Punjab at Jhundan. Finding no scope for expansion, Jhundan mission was closed. Land at Najafgarh was bought. A new foundation was set up at Basaha in May 2003. At the heels of it Kaniketh came into being in June 2004, making the number of houses fourteen.
